What is 'School Direct' teacher training?

WHAT IS SCHOOL BASED TEACHER TRAINING?

School based (tuition fee) programmes allow you to learn on the job as you work towards your Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) recommendation. This non-salaried route is run by the University but with consistent school placement coordinated by a school, or group of schools, that work closely with a university (Sunderland University in this case). You’ll be based continuously in a school, but will also be taught by the university that the school partners with. These programmes are popular with students who are looking for a more 'hands on' experience and those hoping to gain a position in their placement school following their training.
